Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU! saved me a lot of worry and waiting for my package from the USA! I have just got off the phone to ParcelForce having paid my 'Duty, VAT & ParcelForce charge...and my package will be with me tomorrow!
NB. If your USPS tracking number shows 'attempted delivery made' on the USPS site and you go straight to the ParcelForce site and your tracking number is not showing up yet...you can just google for your local ParcalForce depot and phone them, they can take your USPS number find its new number straight away and then you can pay the charge. This saves you the extra time that it takes for the USPS tracking No. to be registered and updated on the ParcelForce site.

thank-you for this post. Its very helpful.
When I logged into the USPS website it says the pacel was "ATTEMPTED DELIVERY". which infact wasnt (reading from the forum).
I called up parcel force with my tracking number and they said it was held in their depot for duty charges. I paid the duty charges on the phone and they said it will be delivered tomorrow.

Sorry the winch was sold shortly afterwards to a chap whom was building an expedition vehicle that was going to China.

Thanks for this entry...
Just had a parcel sent from the states via USPS... and sure enough, "attempted delivery abroad" (yeah, right!) So, armed with the info left here, I contacted my local Parcel FARCE depot
and guess what... there it was, awaiting a mighty £40.20 charge!
£26.70 vat + £13.50 *handling charge*. When I questioned this charge, I was informed " It's for da blokes wot elp out P.F. at customs"
Bloody Hell ! what is going on ? I'm surprised that anyone get's anything from P.F. and more surprised they are still in business....
And of course, they won't/can't/don't leave a card to say "delivery attempted" because....
They were never there and never tried to deliver.
Something should really be done about these jokers and their devious money-grabbing practises.
Right, that said... I'm off to contemplate the meaning of life and have a nice cuppa tea
Big kiss :O)

Great thread! Lots of Insight here.. I had no idea how troublesome USPS was and to add some more weights to the bar... I'm leaving England august 7th to hong kong..I was just playing the waiting game thinking 6-10 working days is def before august 7th and I can wear my new shirts in HK.. After reading everything here I guess that's not going
to happen . gotta prepare my self for some stressy days to come...delivering to the Uk in general is annoying with all the extra charges This is bs tho the seller should make u aware how anal USPS is!

My "website extremely user unfriendly"? - sorry but this is not a USPS website nor is it a Parcelforce website or any other offical website for that matter and it therefore has no interest in your complaints nor a readership that has the power to provide a solution to your "simple query". However it is a website that sometimes posts up useful and helpful information such as the entry above which seems to have provided others help and they have shown their appreciation by posting a thank you comment and sometimes making a welcome donation via the PayPal button above to continue this pages web presence. I suggest you contact Parcelforce qouting your parcels tracking number and they may be able to provide you with useful information regarding your parcels location.
cheers

I found your Website extremely user UNfriendly. It was not possible to send an e-mail for a simple query because required address box did not and would not accept my ZIP code as I live in UK. All I want to know is what happened to my purchase from Zamberg with tracking reference LJ326289035US ???? Can someone please help me. Since my address is not accepted I am unable to send any e-mail to USPS Customer Services.

Ok i think iv worked it out now! The B******S at customs have charged 12% Excise duty then the Vat @17.5% amounting to the £84 so i dont even think thats including the parcelforce clearance charges so will probably cost me over £90 to get my gear, which i only paid £266 for in the first place!!! Im never buying from USA ever again, im f ing sick of the UK too, you make money they tax you, you spend money they tax you, you save money they tax you! No wonder people leave the UK with there money, dirty lowdown robbing F***ers Apparently its all for services like the NHS, stop paying for drunks and junkies and lowlifes and you wont need to rob money from everyone else!! Grrrrr

Ok, now im really p'd off!
I called parcelforce today, they said its in glasgow waiting charges, which is doesnt say im being charged on usps websites tracking. The cost of the parcel including delivery was £266, the current VAT is 17.5% for what i ordered (motorcycle clothing), as far as im aware since its not tobbacco or alcohol it doesnt have an excise charge for the item just the customs VAT costs, which at that rate should be £46.55 + the £13.50 or £8.00 clearance charge by parcelforce so should be either £54.55 or £60.05 but parcelforce say its costing me £84 in charges!!!!! WTF
