Midland 98 Plus Microphone Wiring
Recently carried out a fault find/repair on some ones CB setup. Isolated the problems (no audio, no transmit) to the microphone. The unit left the factory faulty, and had never worked! I assumed the microphone plug had been wired incorrectly but turned out to be a broken wire in the hand unit itself, another crappy silver solder dry joint victim - bring back lead!
Anyway for reference the MIDLAND 98 PLUS standard Midland microphone (the large one with channel up/down buttons and UK/EURO button) is wired as thus...
Viewed from solder side of plug:
6 pin plug pinout:

Microphone wire colour to Pin position number :
RED = 3
BROWN = 4
BLACK = 2
SHIELD/BRAID = 5,
WHITE = 1,
BLUE= 6
Brief camp out
Camped out with Toppa. Really mild weather so just used the green maggot and gortex bivvy bag, spent most of night half out of it next to the fire. Ran the tarp up with the poles for just in case it rained.
Toppa bought some matured steaks so a feast was had on the BBQ grill.
Delta chased off a nosey deer at about 5am and scared me to death with his growling.
