Fitted additional recovery points
The Defender's jate rings attached to the front chassis rails are hard and unpleasant to get at when nose down in a water filled bog hole.
So have recycled my old Series lifting D-rings and have bolted them to the winch bumper as additional front recovery points.
The bumper is full 1/4 inch think plate, the rings are attached with M12 8.8 tensile bolts so should do the job nicely. Could have mounted the rings on top of bumper in same location as Series but they foul the grill and the Number Plate mount. The bumper also has a fabricated strengthener inside at that point making it hard to tightening/loosen the fixings.
mudclub trip out
Trip out on Wiltshire lanes with some members of mudclub. Good day out, couple of recoveries.
Couple of snags to sort - need to look into fitting bump top recovery points as the front jate rings are hard to get to in the mire. Need to find a better way to clean the lamps behind the grills.
