Power Outlets

by sf Email

Am I the only one who wishes there was like 10 power outlets in a car?
My truck had none except for a weird pair for inspection lamp. Soon to realise that modern demands call for at least 3 cigar outlets. One for the AC inverter, one for the pocket PC, one for the GPS, one for the phone charger. I got 4 AC outlets from the inverter to occasionally power Sony camera and laptop when I am filming off-road. It's crazy. Plus I have this solarpanel to top up battery when the car is shut off for long periods.

Anyway I added an outlet and immediately resulted to using that to power 3 more additional outlets, which brings my total to 4 which I think I probably could do with 1 more by hard-wiring the extension outlet box and thus freeing one up. All additional outlets are fed from a leisure battery located under the passenger seat which gets kept alive via dual charge system. This setup ensure my main battery will only be used for starting and normal car systems and wont be drained from the toys when I turn the key off..

Dunno why I'm writing this to be honest - other than to bug buttonman and his blog post :P
