USING A WEB BROWSER TO OBTAIN FILES WITH BO2K 1) Use your BO2K client to connect to the remote BO2K server. 2) In your Clients "Server Commands:" window, select and open the folder marked "TCP/IP". 3) Under the "TCP/IP" folder, select the command "Map Port > HTTP Fileserver". To the right appears the empty boxes "Port" and "Root Path". Type the number 80 for the Port, and type c: for the Root Path. That is C: and not C:\ Next click the send command. (Assuming the hard drive you want to access is labelled with a C ) The "Server Response:" window should display : "Port service start-up successful". What you have done by the above is turn the remote computer into something just like a website. As with any website you can browse it with a web browser. 4) Open your webbrowser. For the location you want to browse type it like this http://127.0.0.1/ Of course this is just an example you will have to replace the IP number (127.0.0.1) with the current IP number of BO'ed computer i.e. the one you used to connect to the BO2K server. Hit enter and you will be taken to that location. 5) Once you are connected with you browser, the content of the remote C: drive should be visible. Assuming that you are using later version browsers (IE4/5 NETSCAPE 4+) you should be able to click and browse the entire hard drive. To download a file, simple right click and save it your system as you would normally. The file is now yours...do with it what you will. 6) After you have finished your browsing session it would be an idea to remove the mapped port you created with BO2K. Remember while that port 80 remains mapped anybody can view the hard drive and view and take files with their browsers even at the same time as you. To remove the Mapped Port : 1) Assuming that you still have the BO2K "Server Command Client" still open. Open folder TCP/IP again and select "List Mapped Ports". The "Server Response should return the info "Port 80: --> HTTP (c:)" , I say do this just in case you forgotten what Mapped port you have set up. Ok you see that port 80 is the only thing set up here so....... 2) From the TCP/IP folder select "Remove Mapped Ports". Enter the port you want removed, in this case it is 80. Click the "Send command" and the "Server Response" should reply "Port redirect removed". That's it.....computer is no longer open to the masses. Nearly forgot to mention : If the remote system has multiple hard drives just set up the mapped port to point at that relevant drive letter. You can use the "Get System Info" command with the BO2K client to display the letters of drives available to you. Of course accessing such things as external CD-ROMs, floppy drives, external hard / zip drives may cause suspicion..... imagine if your tape drive suddenly flashed into life after weeks of dis-use.
