Trying to get Brendon ready
There's an on air contest in a few days called the "Bath Buildathon Contest". The contest is primarily intended to activate the radios built at the Bath Buildathon events as is my Walford Brendon 80Mtr transceiver.
I haven't played with the Brendon for awhile and can't remember exactly what state I left it in last time, I know it wasn't 100% working correctly on the TX modulation side. Will either check it through soon or just suck it and see during contest (if I can get on air!).

To make the radio easier to move around and use I have slapped a new front panel on that has allowed me to tier mount the previously external VFO. Still pleased with the VFO as its covers ~3.51MHz to ~3.80MHz nicely. Am not ready to box him yet as I like looking at its giblets. It's got the Walford 10w amplifier built and fitted to the rear too.

Biggest problem for me is an antenna for 80m, I haven't got one nor have the real-estate to set up something suitable. Best I can do is 1/8th wave vertical *gah* Have now built and set up a G7FEK which is an improvement. Not entering contest to win that's for sure - but am entering with aim of getting a least one QSO - that's all I want, it would be the first real one I have had on the Brendon. I can then put the Brendon to bed and forget about 80metres.
